Last week I taught a two-day paperweaving workshop at Fiber Arts on 4th in Albuquerque, and I discovered that interest in this technique seems to be as strong as ever. A small group of eight, we had the best time exploring simple watercolors on paper, weaving structures, and combining various kinds of papers and materials for exciting woven collages. It is always thrilling for me to be in the company of experienced, wise, and enthusiastic makers bringing skills from across the fiber spectrum.
At the end of the second day, we were all throwing around the idea of a Paperweaving 301 class, or maybe even an extended Master Class. Stay tuned! If this sounds cool to you, be sure to go HERE and sign up for Fiber Arts on 4th’s email newsletter. This workshop space and supplies shop, led by the outrageously energetic and talented basket weaver Cael Chappell and his dedicated staff, is fast becoming a regional force for fiber arts education in a wide variety of media.
Below are some photos from last weekend’s class. Thanks, everyone!
In other teaching news, I am teaching Adventures in Paperweaving online this week and next for American Tapestry Alliance and Intermountain Weavers Conference. There are still a few spots available—sign up today! Those are my last classes for 2026. . . but my calendar for 2027 is pretty open! Please reach out if your guild or fiber arts center is interested in a workshop. I can teach online and if the situation is right, I can come in person to you. At this time I am scheduling all my classes through sponsoring guilds and organizations; I’m not offering workshops on my own platform.
